Crowley's
Ridge, one of the world's great geologic oddities,
accentuates the flat delta country in a crescent arch of rolling hills
stretching from the Missouri border to Helena.
Green and white pilot wheel signs mark the way to Arkansas Post (first
European settlement in the lower Mississippi Valley),
Helena (home of the blues),
Southland Greyhound Park at Memphis and more. If you’re fascinated by
history, you’ll enjoy the Desha County Museum in Dumas.
It will make you feel like you’ve gone
back in time as you explore its restored buildings. "I'm a Ding Dong
Daddy from Dumas" a song popular around 1930 and adopted by Dumas,
is the basis of its annual summer festival.
